The wife of a man who used to weight over 1,000 pounds has had gastric bypass surgery. It is not uncommon for the other partner to have gastric bypass surgery after one of them has the procedure.

Patrick Duel left the hospital in January 2005 after having gastric bypass surgery and having a successful recovery. It was announced in April that his wife would also be having the weight loss procedure. At the time his wife weighed 270 pounds.
