California gastric bypass surgeon accused of negligence 8.07.05

A California gastric bypass surgeon has been accused by the Medical Board of California of gross negligence.

Disturbingly, while this story seems illustrates the importance of checking references for any surgeons which you are considering having perform your weight loss surgery. This may not be the case. Dr. Sanderfer apparently has performed hundreds of gastric bypass surgeries for over a decade.

The fact is gastric bypass surgery is extremely high risk and often results in post-surgical complications.

"Dr. Terry Sanderfer exhibited gross negligence and incompetence by failing to properly care for leaking organs, severe infections and other post-surgical complications, according to the accusation filed earlier this summer by the Medical Board of California."
