These groups can help you have a better experience. A support group is just that -- it helps you deal with issues by talking to people you can specifically relate with. You are encouraged to meet with a gastric bypass support group before surgery to hear directly from the people who have undergone the surgery themselves. Their unique experiences may play an important role in your recovery.
